General information only
The calculators, articles and other content on eyelovesleep are for general information and education. They are not medical advice, and they are not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a qualified health professional.
How the calculators work
- The sleep calculator uses an average 90-minute sleep cycle. Real cycles vary between people and across the night.
- The blood pressure and sleep calculator uses the 2017 ACC/AHA blood pressure categories and the STOP-BANG questionnaire. A single reading or a screening score is not a diagnosis of hypertension or sleep apnea.
- The jet lag calculator applies general circadian research to your trip. It can't account for medication, health conditions, pregnancy or shift work.
- Sleep stages on the Tonight page are estimated from the times you log, not measured.
Talk to a professional
See a doctor if you have ongoing trouble sleeping, loud snoring, pauses in breathing at night, daytime sleepiness that affects driving or work, or blood pressure readings in the hypertension range. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking melatonin or any supplement, especially if you take other medication, are pregnant or have a health condition.
Emergencies
If your blood pressure is above 180/120 and you have chest pain, shortness of breath, back pain, numbness, weakness, vision changes or difficulty speaking, call your local emergency number now.
